How to use milestone years
Save the dates that matter to your cellar, like a birth or a wedding. InVintory then helps you find bottles from those years, shows when a bottle will be ready for a big birthday, and sends a note on each anniversary when you have bottles from that year.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”| Device | Where |
|---|---|
| iPhone | On the home screen, tap your profile photo, then Settings and Collection settings. Under Customization, tap Milestone years |
| Web app | On app.invintory.com, go to Settings, click your collection, then Milestone years under Customization |
| Android | Not available yet |
Milestone years belong to the collection, so everyone in it sees the same dates. Owners, admins and editors can add, change and delete them. Viewers don’t see the settings row, but they still get the filter and the notes on the wine page.
Add a date
Section titled “Add a date”- Open Milestone years and tap Add. On the web, click Add.
- Type a name, like Maya’s birthday or Our wedding.
- Pick the date and tap Save.
iPhone: Home → your profile photo → Settings → Collection settings → Milestone years → AddTo change a date, tap it. To delete one on iPhone, swipe left on it and tap Delete; on the web, click the bin next to it. Either way we ask first, because you’ll stop getting a note on that date.
What milestone years do
Section titled “What milestone years do”| Where | What you get |
|---|---|
| Collection filters | A Milestone years row right after Vintage. Pick a date to see only bottles from its year |
| A wine’s page | A line with a heart under the Drink Window card when the wine is from that year |
| Notifications | A note on each anniversary, when the collection holds bottles from that year |
| Vincent | Vincent knows your dates and brings one up when it fits what he’s recommending |
Find bottles from a milestone year
Section titled “Find bottles from a milestone year”- On your collection, tap Filter. On the web, click Filters.
- Tap Milestone years, just below Vintage. The row only shows once the collection has a saved date.
- Pick one or more dates, then tap Apply Filters.
Picking a date doesn’t tick anything under Vintage. If you pick years there too, you see bottles from any of them.
The note on a wine’s page
Section titled “The note on a wine’s page”When a wine is from one of your milestone years, a line appears under its Drink Window card:
| You see | When |
|---|---|
| Maya’s birthday: 18 years in 2033, inside this drink window | A 10th, 18th, 21st, 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th or 60th anniversary falls inside the drink window. You see the first one that does |
| Maya’s birthday: 1 year in 2016, inside this drink window | None of those do, but another anniversary does. You see the first one |
| From the year of Maya’s birthday | No anniversary falls inside the drink window |
The anniversary note
Section titled “The anniversary note”On the day, at 9am in the time zone of the phone or browser that saved the date, everyone in the collection gets a notification like this:
🍷 Maya's birthday10 years ago today. You have 3 bottles from 2015.- It only comes when the collection holds bottles from that year, and only once per anniversary.
- Each person’s own notification settings apply. To turn it off, switch off Milestone years in notification settings — on iPhone under Account settings → Preferences → Notifications, or in the web app’s notification settings.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Names show exactly as you type them, so add the apostrophe in Maya’s birthday yourself.
- Moved to a new time zone? Open the date and tap Save on a device in your new time zone, and the note follows it.
- If you save a quick filter with a milestone year picked, it’s saved as that year under Vintage.
