How to rename a collection

A collection’s name is a single field in its settings: open it, type a new one, save. It can be up to 50 characters, and everyone who shares the collection sees the change.

Make it whatever suits you: The Daiters’ Wine Collection for a cellar you share with a spouse, or Ocean Prime Fort Lauderdale for a restaurant. If you have more than one collection, each is named separately.

  1. On Home, tap your profile photo in the top right, then Settings and Collection settings. On iPad, tap your profile photo in the top bar, then Settings, and pick the collection under Collections.
  2. Tap Name.
  3. Type the new name and tap Done.
iPhone: Home → your profile photo → Settings → Collection settings → Name → Done

You can also reach the same screen from your profile, where your collections are listed under My Collection and Other Collections — on iPhone with an older iOS, that is the Profile tab.

  1. On Home, tap your profile photo, then Settings and Collection settings.
  2. Under Details, tap Name.
  3. Type the new name and tap Done.
  1. Go to app.invintory.com/settings.
  2. Under My collections, click the collection.
  3. In the General section, edit the Name field.
  4. Click Save — the button appears as soon as you change the field.
What you see Why
Invalid Name — Name must be at least one character and less than 50 The name is blank or too long. Trim it to 50 characters or fewer.
The name shows but you cannot edit it, or the save is refused You joined the collection as a viewer. Renaming needs editor access — ask the owner. The web hides the field outright; Android lets you open it and then refuses the save.
On iPhone or iPad, tapping Name does nothing The iPhone and iPad app lets only the owner and admins rename a collection. An editor can rename it on the web or on Android.
