How to add purchases by emailing a receipt

Every collection you can edit gives you your own InVintory email address. Forward an order confirmation, receipt or invoice to it, and we read it the way we read a scanned receipt. If everything checks out, the order becomes a purchase with its bottles on their way to you. If we are unsure of anything, it waits as a draft for you to check.

Tip

Requires a paid plan. The address only appears on a collection whose plan includes receipt scanning, and only to people with editor access to it.

Find your address

Web app	On Purchases, click Create, then Email a receipt — or Settings, open the collection under My collections, and find Email receipts

The address starts with add+ and ends in @receipts.invintory.com. Tap Copy address, or the address itself, to copy it. On iPhone and iPad you need version 6.39.0 or later.

Note

The address is yours, for one collection. Everyone who can edit the collection gets their own, and each one only adds to the collection it came from. If you share several collections, each has a different address.

Forward an order

1. Open the order confirmation, receipt or invoice in your email.
2. Forward it to your address. It can be the email itself, or a PDF or photo attached to it.
3. Wait for the notification. It tells you whether the order was added or needs checking.

Email app:  the order email → Forward → your add+…@receipts.invintory.com address

Forwarding as an attachment, as Outlook and Apple Mail can, works too.

What happens to the email

Checking a draft works exactly like checking a scanned receipt. The email is saved with the purchase under Receipts or Invoices.

Forward automatically from Gmail

A Gmail filter can forward a shop’s order emails to your address for you. When you add the address in Gmail’s forwarding settings, Gmail sends it a confirmation code — that code shows up in your InVintory notifications, ready to enter in Gmail. If an email doesn’t come through, forward it by hand instead.

Get a new address

If your address has got out, replace it. In the Email receipts section of Collection settings, tap Get a new address and confirm.

Caution

Your old address stops working right away. Update any Gmail filter that uses it. Other people’s addresses for the collection are not affected.

Good to know

• Everyone in the collection can see the emails you forward.
• If you lose editor access, or the collection’s plan no longer includes receipt scanning, the address stops adding anything.

Android does not show the address yet. Use it from iPhone, iPad or the web — purchases it adds appear on Android like any other.
