How to use voice commands

On iPhone and iPad you can speak to Vincent instead of typing, and on every device you can have a reply read back to you.

What you want How, and where it works
Speak instead of typing The microphone beside the message box in the chat. iPhone and iPad.
Hear a reply The play button on any of Vincent’s replies. Every device, Android and the web included.
  1. Tap the microphone beside the message box
  2. Talk. A timer and a waveform show it is listening
  3. Tap the tick to finish — your words are transcribed into the message box, where you can edit them, so a misheard producer name is easy to fix
  4. Tap send. Nothing goes to Vincent until you do

On an iPhone with an Ask Vincent anything bar above the tab bar, tapping its microphone opens the chat and starts recording for you. A long recording is cut off and transcribed automatically; tap + to abandon one.

Anything you can type you can say, including an instruction — dictate “add two bottles of the 2019 Ridge” and Vincent acts on it once you send.

Every reply in the chat carries a play button — tap it to hear that answer, and tap again to stop.

Spoken replies are a separate setting from speaking to Vincent. Open the chat menu icon → Settings and turn Voice off to hide the play buttons; it is on by default, and the setting lives on that device only.

Vincent speaks in your app language, so switch the app’s language and the voice follows.

Speaking into the chat needs one iOS permission — Microphone — and the app asks for it the first time. Deny it and you get “Allow microphone access in Settings to use voice input.” Grant it again in iOS Settings → InVintory, where it appears as its own switch. If recording fails for another reason the message is “Unable to start recording. Please try again.”

Speaking to Vincent is on iPhone and iPad for now. On Android and at app.invintory.com you type, and each reply still has a play button.
