How to create a VinLocate shelf for your fridge

A fridge is built one shelf at a time: open the fridge, tap Create under Sections, pick the shelf shape that matches the real thing, set how many bottles wide, tall and deep it is, then tap Save.

Tip

Requires a paid plan. On a free collection a fridge shows an upgrade card instead of its sections list. You also need the fridge itself to exist first — see How to create a cellar or fridge.

You are not asked for a name. Each shelf is created as Shelf 1, Shelf 2 and so on; you rename it afterwards. Build from the top of the fridge down so the numbering matches what you see.

Building a shelf

1. On the home screen, under Cellars & fridges, tap your fridge.
2. Scroll to Sections and tap Create. The first time you will see an intro — tap Create your first shelf.
3. On Shelf Type, tap Rack for fixed bottle positions or Bin for an open shelf. Tap Racks vs. Bins if unsure.
4. On Slot Type, choose one of the six shelf shapes below. Each one shows an illustration.
5. On Bottle Direction, choose which way the corks face. This is cosmetic — it only changes how bottles are drawn.
6. On Customize Shelf, tap Column, Row or Depth and use − and + to match the real shelf. The 3D model rebuilds as you go.
7. Tap Save.

The six shelf shapes

Alternating Front and Alternating Back flip the direction row by row, the trick many fridges use to pack bottles closer.

Note

Bins skip every remaining step. Choose Bins and the shelf is created immediately — a Bin created confirmation appears and the 3D view opens. There is no grid, so nothing to size. Pick it for any shelf where bottles are stacked loosely.

Fine-tuning and adding more

On Customize Shelf, the gear icon top right holds Remove bottle slots, for positions your shelf does not really have, and Change bottle direction, for turning single bottles round. Show removed bottle slots brings removed ones back into view so you can restore them.

Saving returns you to Create 3D shelves, listing every shelf so far:

• + Add another builds the next shelf without returning to storage settings.
• A shelf’s ⋯ menu holds Rename, Modify, Duplicate, Move Up and Move Down. For a fridge of identical shelves, build one and Duplicate it.
• Done finishes.

On Android and the web

On Android, tap your fridge, tap Create under Sections, then name the shelf — Android asks for the name up front. All six shapes are on Slot Type, and all six finish. Bins is created the moment you pick it; the other five ask for a Bottle Direction, then open the 3D view, where the Column, Row and Depth tabs size the shelf and Create saves it.

On app.invintory.com, open the fridge from the left menu, scroll to Fridge Sections and click Create — the same shapes, and each shelf is named for you, as on iPhone.
