How to report a bug
Email support@invintory.com from the address you sign in with, and tell us three things: what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screen recording is worth more than all three.
Tell us what you tapped
Section titled “Tell us what you tapped”The app sends us crash reports, so the email address you sign in with usually helps us find what went wrong. What you tapped, step by step, is the piece only you can give us, so put your effort there.
| Worth writing down | Leave it out |
|---|---|
| The steps you took, in order, ending with the one that went wrong | Your iOS version — the app tells us |
| A screen recording, or a screenshot if the problem holds still | Your app version — the app tells us |
| Which iPhone or iPad it is | A crash log or diagnostic file — the app sends us those |
| The email address on your account, and roughly when it happened | A diagnosis — tell us what you saw, not what you think caused it |
| Which wine, cellar or collection it happened on, by name |
Before you write, check it is already fixed
Section titled “Before you write, check it is already fixed”- Open the App Store, search for InVintory and look for Update rather than Open. It can take a second for the button to settle, so pause on the listing.
- Compare it with the version you are running: on Home, tap your profile photo in the top right, then Settings and Account settings, and scroll to About → Version. On iPad, tap your profile photo in the top bar, then Settings. On iPhone with an older iOS, tap Profile, then the gear in the top right. Quote that whole line to us, trailing number included — that number is the build.
- The app doesn’t prompt you when a new version is out, so it is worth checking. If the App Store offers you no Update at all, check Settings → General → Software Update: InVintory needs iOS 18 or later, and an older iPhone or iPad is never offered the current app.
iPhone: Home → your profile photo → Settings → Account settings → About → VersionIf the app quit on its own, reopen it
Section titled “If the app quit on its own, reopen it”A crash report reaches us after you next open the app, so reopen it after a crash.
Recording your screen
Section titled “Recording your screen”Add Screen Recording to Control Centre, start it, reproduce the problem, stop it, and attach the video from Photos — Apple’s instructions. Video beats everything else, because it shows the order you did things in.
Android
Section titled “Android”The Android app is in early access and carries an InVintory Android Early Access banner across the top of the Home tab with a Report bug button, which opens a form in your browser. That or email both work. On Android, include everything: your device, your Android version, and the Version, Build number, Update channel and Runtime version rows from Settings → About.
The web app
Section titled “The web app”When a page breaks, the error screen shows an Error ID and a Contact support link that opens an email already filled in with that ID, the page, the time and your browser. Use it — the ID lets us find the error. Otherwise email us and say which browser you are in.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- How to fix a frozen or stuck app — if the app has stopped responding or is sitting on three gold dots
- How to fix login problems — a rejected password or a reset email that never lands
- What to do if your collection looks empty — your wine is not gone; update and reopen first
