How to log wines at a restaurant

You do not need to own a bottle to keep a wine you drank out. Write a review on the wine and it is saved to your reviews; add the bottle and mark it Consumed only if you also want it counted in your collection.

  1. Open the Explore tab.
  2. Beside Latest community reviews, tap Create review.
  3. Search our catalogue for the wine and pick the vintage.
  4. Tap Add location and search for the restaurant, so the note remembers where you were.
  5. Type your note β€” or tap Transcribe and say it, which is easier at a table.
  6. Under What did you think?, pick Disliked, Liked or Loved, then tap Done.

Nothing on that screen is required, so a reaction on its own is a perfectly good log β€” come back and fill in the rest whenever. Your reviews live on My Reviews, which has its own Create review button. On iPhone, tap your profile photo at the top of Home, then My profile & reviews; on iPad, your profile photo in the top bar, then Profile; on iPhone with an older iOS, the Profile tab.

Worth the extra steps when you want the wine counted in your collection rather than only remembered.

  1. Add the bottle to your collection as you normally would.
  2. On Home, tap Remove and search for the wine.
  3. Leave the reason on Consumed β€” it is already selected β€” and tap Confirm.
  4. The Bottle consumed message offers Create Review to write the note now, or Remind Later to be nudged about it.

Both offer the review-only route. On Android, open the Reviews tab and tap Create. On app.invintory.com, use Quick Actions β†’ Create Review. Each then searches the catalogue the same way.

Photograph the restaurant’s list and every wine on it shows its value and scores, and Vincent can tell you what to pick. On iPhone, open the scanner and tap Menu above the capture button. On iPad, open a Vincent chat, tap +, then Scan a Wine List. It helps you choose; it does not add anything to your collection. The scan is not in the Android app or on the web yet β€” attach a photo of the list in a Vincent chat instead.
